Babies Make Families was founded by two women who ventured on a surrogate IVF journey together. Both were already blessed with children - one wanted another, and the other wanted to provide that child by donating herself. Several trips to a fertility clinic resulted in loss and ultimately no success.
We realized we were lucky enough to already have the blessing we were trying so hard to get again-our children-and we were able to focus on them. But we also became painfully aware that many who had been through the ups and downs, and heartaches, of trying to create a family still have to do without. Some of them are limited only by finances. They have already exhausted their resources, possibly re-mortgaged their homes, taken out loans and used up savings. It is our hope at Babies Make Families to create a sponsorship fund for such would-be families to help take some of the financial burden off their journey through IVF third-party reproductive services and adoption.
No one should be left childless, especially if the only thing holding them back is an inability to cover upfront fees which can become prohibitive in Canada. Babies Make Families will be using many forms of fundraising along with this website. It is our hope that online sales of women-driven products such as shapely clothing, undergarments, baby shower gifts and baby gear will help build many future families. Our goal is to make Babies Make Families a household name for all your personal and gift giving needs. Money from these and other activities will help us to fulfill our motto "Families helping Families make Families".
